Have you launched a model home project?

In 2019, 21 pilot households with backyard composters were monitored for 6 months to track the amount of household biowaste generated. It is thanks to these control households that we can estimate the amount diverted from municipal solid waste (around 51 kg).

We have also used these figures to estimate the amount diverted via vermicomposting, which we have estimated at half this amount (in this case 25 kg). Mainly for collective housing.

But in fact, no control households were monitored for vermicomposting.

Why recycle organic waste?

3 reasons:

Firstly, for regulatory reasons, as we are a treatment syndicate, this is our priority.

Secondly, for financial reasons, as we're diverting significant tonnages of household waste from landfill.

And, of course, for ecological reasons, as bio-waste is first and foremost a resource before being waste.

How can I get a vermicomposter with you?

Go to the Syvadec website. In 3 clicks you can reserve a worm composter.

Free for year-round residents only. The equipment is returned within 2 weeks.

Compost worms are raised on site by the RECYCLA Corse association. Depending on the region, the worms are transported by train to the person responsible for delivering the material. Otherwise, they are collected directly from the worm farm.

If we set up training workshops to raise awareness of the use of a vermicomposter, we have the idea of relaunching this test household program, this time on vermicomposting.
