Children are the future of the planet
and the best friends of worms and plants

Educational activities for children

In one morning, the pupils have the chance to see the history of the yellow garbage can (our recyclables) and the green garbage can (our organic waste), some of which is recycled by worms... In fact, the SICTOM Pézenas-Agde sorting center is right next to Vers La Terre.

Vermicomposting, a great educational tool for our children

For our little ones, vermicomposting combines environmental protection, a contribution to food self-sufficiency, and an understanding, through practice and observation, of Nature's marvellous life mechanisms.

More and more nursery and elementary school and environmental education associations are already using vermicomposters. Observing the life of worms can be easily integrated into :

Earth sciences (soil formation, food relationships in and on the soil, the water cycle, reproduction, invertebrate movement patterns, observation of an ecosystem, organic waste and recycling)

Mathematics

French and Literature

Geography

Not forgetting, of course, Environmental Education for Sustainable Development and Citizenship.

Towards the Earth, loved by children

Unforgettable educational visits: Since 2007, Vers La Terre has welcomed nearly 5,000 children. They have been able to discover the secrets of nature on site (worm farms, artistic vermiculture and recycling of organic and production waste).

Educational and fun, vermicomposting combines environmental protection, fertilizer self-sufficiency and harmony with nature.

Involvement of Vers La Terre with the association Passerelles.info

Vers La Terre supports the association's "Réduire mes déchets, nourrir la Terre" school program Passerelles.info

Vermicomposting is such a rich source of learning that it seemed essential to use it to illustrate educational lessons.

The Passerelles.info association is distributing an enriched and highly instructive educational guide for teachers on vermicomposting.

Vers La Terre training courses

The Vers La Terre training organization

We are committed to improving the skills of individuals, professionals and local authorities who want to make the most of their waste and soil.

Offering a range of sustainable training courses to deepen your knowledge, Vers la Terre cultivates you!

Take a look at our selection of training courses.

Develop the skills, know-how and attitudes of permaculturists and vermiculturists. Turn them into a profession.

Setting up a vermicomposting operation

Doing means understanding, and that means learning, because vermicomposting can't be invented. While leading a collective and shared action requires a certain knowledge of the context, the issues at stake and local authority policies, you'll be able to recommend an organization to ensure the operation of a site and initiate an action plan.

Become a vermiculteur

It's easy to see that in their natural environment, our worm friends don't doubt anything: they live. To raise them, we need to learn how to control their living conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.). We'll teach you techniques for recycling and transforming waste. You'll be guided to the right networks of professionals and individuals to meet.

Getting to know worms

Although they account for well over half of the earth's biomass, Darwin defines them as such: The ploughers of the soil. Here, we study their biology, anatomy (respiratory and circulatory systems, reproduction, means of locomotion) and diet.
