City Worms® worm composter

Which worm species for my vermicomposter?

To get your vermicomposter off to a good start, it's important to choose the right compost worms. There are many species of worm, but not all are suitable for vermicomposting. The main species to use are Eisenia foetida and Eisenia andreï. These are compost worms belonging to the decomposer family. Be careful when using Eisenia hortensis (or Dendrobaena veneta, more commonly known as Dendro). Its elusive temperament makes this species difficult to acclimatize to the indoor vermicomposter. However, it is still very useful for windrow composting and makes an excellent fish food.

What are the different components of the vermicomposter?

Guaranteed for 10 years, our vermicomposter is the fruit of four years' work, to reduce your kitchen waste by up to 50%. It comprises a shelf for storing cardboard and a bottle for harvesting the vermicompost. It also includes a humidification mattress to maintain humidity.

How does vermicomposting work?

The vermicomposter is a natural, environmentally-friendly way of managing your organic waste. Compost worms feed on the waste in the composter, providing two natural fertilizers: vermicompost and vermicithé. Odorless and leakage-free, it can be moved anywhere in your home or apartment.
